COVID-19 Country Report: Bangladesh

COVID-19, the pandemic disease attacks recently worldwide. Bangladesh also struggles with this Corona virus since 08 March 2020. Our Prime Minister, Her Excellency Sheikh Hasina did not waste time to issue directives to combat this disease and its consequences., Mr Justice Mumtaz M Uddin, Chairman of the Bangladesh Press Council said during a WAPC conference on COVID 19.She has become pioneer to lead, motivate and encourage the nation and obviously sat personal example to mitigate the problem, he said. With her directives all ministries concern, departments, arm forces, law enforcing agencies, journalists and NGOs and enthusiastic activists of ruling party and its front organizations has been playing key role campaign and tasks against COVID-19. She has transformed disastrous COVID into digital opportunity.

His Excellency Information minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud, MP, is playing vital role in this situation. He has taken initiative for positive publicity. Not only that, the ministry arranged grant for distressed and deceased journalists in COVID-19 situation.

The relentless efforts of the democratic government results in gradual decreasing the worsening COVID situation in Bangladesh. May Allah (ST) allow Her Excellency Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina long live to lead Bangladesh resistless and concolidated advancement.

Bangladesh Government has sanctioned about one crore Taka to the journalists who were affected in COVID 19 while doing their duties. Three lakh Taka has been sanctioned to each journalists family who lost their lives in this pandemic. Ten thousand Takas is sanctioned to each of the 3794 affected journalists. While in total 583 journalists have been affected by COVID 19, 236 have recovered. Rest are under treatment.
